| Course Overview |
This course is designed for people with no IT qualifications and no IT experience but wishing to start their career as an IT Support Technician.
This course will give you an in depth understanding of hardware, operating systems, installation, upgrade and troubleshooting.
At the end of the course, students should be able to pass CompTIA A+ certification.

End user skills with Windows based personal computers including the ability to :
Start up and shut down the computer
Log on to the computer or network and run programs
Move, copy, delete abnd rename files in Windows Explorer
Browse and search for information on the internet

Module 1 - Introduction to computers
Module 2 - Motherboard architecture
Module 3 - Storage devices
Module 4 - Installation, configuration and troubleshooting hardware
Module 5 - Portable computers and devices
Module 6 - Operating system fundamentals
Module 7 - Microsoft Windows family of operating systems
Module 8 - Installation, configuration and troubleshooting operating systems and applications
Module 9 - Customer service and problem finding techniques
Module 10 - Computer network and internet

| Hands On Activities |
Hands on activities are flexible, depending on your experience, but generally cover the following :
Troubleshooting the power supply
Understanding BIOS and CMOS settings
Identifying different hardware slots, sockets and ports
Building a fully functional PC
Partioning and formatting the hard drive
Installing and learning DOS commands
Installing and troubleshooting Windows 98, 2000 and XP
Building a peer to peer network

| Details |
This course will be taught by a combination of lectures, videos and practical hads on activities.
Student progress will be monitored through lab assignments, homework, and an end of module exam.

| Exam Information |
At the end of the course, there will be a final exam and a practical assignment.
After this, students will be presented with a QiT Training course certificate.
To obtain A+ Certification, students will then take the following two external exams :
